Prep is when you get into a group of 3 and decided to make a product it can be anything even chocolate. My group is Mike,Houston and Finis. We decided to make albums. So her is our puppet pals

Northern cluster

Description: In the band we have been learning this song called hall of fame and then we changed the lyrics into a mix of English and Moari. So kappa Haka and the band got together and entered the northern cluster. The northern cluster is when all the schools from the north religion get toghther and celebrate what sort of music they have learnt. kappa haka did the actions and the signing and the band played the music. I think it was a good mix of pop music and Moari cutler. Here is a Vedio of us preforming

Art

This term we had to do our calendar art for next year. Next years calendar art was based in Eric Carle
And quilt art it was hard at the start but if you keep going and never give up it will worth it and that's showing panekeritanga. Here is my Eric Carle art.

Plan for the Ethan project

My nephew is going on a long flight to the UK.  He loves animals.  On the plane, he needs something that he can play with and keep him occupied in a small space.  The pieces have to be able to be stored flat in a snaplock bag that can go in his pocket.

3 possibilities to prototype are:

Board game,card game,maze

I have chosen Prototype because:

My first prototype: (This needs to be detailed enough so that someone else can make it)

Writing

In writing we have been learning about scentences. First there's a simple scentence which is when you have a verb and a adjective. Secondly there's a compound scentence that's when you join two simple scentnces toghther with a conjuction and the two simple scentences alone have to make sense. Last of all there is a complex scentence that's when you join two simple scentences together but they don't make sense. Here is my slide I made to show these three types of scentences.

Evaluation: I think working on scentences is a good topic to work on cause then you know what scentences your writing.

Mathex

Description: On Friday we did a thing called mathex. If you don't know what mathex is it's a activity that involves 53 teams with 24 people from each school. First there's the year six team they have 2 teams of five and there are 2 subs same for the year five team. Once the year sixes left we came in I got to meet some people like Finis, Luke and Tane then we placed our bags under a table. Then I sat down with the other sub Edward. When mathex is over our team came 2nd I was so happy. Here is a photo for the full mathex team.

Feedback: mike it think that you had a good chance to come in the top 3nd I am glad that you came 2nd i am so sad that you didn't come 1 but it is more then comeing 1st it is about having fun

Feedforward: but... I  think you can work on getting 1st at the mathex thing

Volcanoes

In Troy's science we got a choice to do a exprement and we choice the coke and mentos challenge. The point was to see how volcanoes erupted here is our Vedio and research.

Here are the facts me and Finis learnt during our research.

Volcanoes are formed when magma from within the Earth's upper mantle works its way to the surface. At the surface, it erupts to form lava flows and ash deposits. Over time as the volcano continues to erupt, it will get bigger and bigger.

Volcanoes erupt because of density and pressure. The lower density of the magma relative to the surrounding rocks causes it to rise (like air bubbles in syrup). It will rise to the surface or to a depth that is determined by the density of the magma and the weight of the rocks above it

Here is how volcanos work

Volcanoes are just a natural way that the Earth and other planets have of cooling off and releasing internal heat and pressure.

As the magma rises, bubbles start to form from the gas dissolved in the magma. The gas bubbles exert tremendous pressure. This pressure helps to bring the magma to the surface and forces it in the air, sometimes to great heights.

It's sort of like the bubbles of gas in a bottle of soda. Before you open the soda you don't see many bubbles because the pressure in the bottle keeps the gas dissolved in the soda. When you open the bottle the pressure is released and the gas bubbles leave the soda. If you shake up the bottle first, the soda gets pushed out by the bubbles of gas as they rush out.

Here is how volcanoes are affecting the planet:

There are two things to think about. The first is how the weather near an erupting volcano is being affected. The second is how large eruptions will affect the weather/climate around the world. I think more people are worried about the second issue than the first.

The main effect on weather right near a volcano is that there is often a lot of rain, lightning, and thunder during an eruption.  This is because all the ash particles that are thrown up into the atmosphere are good at attracting/collecting water droplets. We don’t quite know exactly how the lightning is caused but it probably involves the particles moving through the air and separating positively and negatively charged particles.

Another problem in Hawai’i involves the formation of vog, or volcanic fog.  The ongoing eruption there is very quiet, with lava flowing through lava tubes and then into the ocean.  Up at the vent is an almost constant plume of volcanic fume that contains a lot of sulfur dioxide. This SO2 combines with water in the atmosphere to form sulfuric acid droplets that get carried in the trade winds around to the leeward side of the Big Island. The air quality there has been really poor since the eruption started in 1983 and they are getting pretty tired of it.

As for the world-wide affects of volcanic eruptions this only happens when there are large explosive eruptions that throw material into the stratosphere.  If it only gets into the troposphere it gets flushed out by rain.

The effects on the climate haven’t been completely figured out. It seems to depend on the size of the particles (again mostly droplets of sulfuric acid). If they are big then they let sunlight in but don’t let heat radiated from the Earth’s surface out, and the net result is a warmer Earth (the famous Greenhouse effect). If the particles are smaller than about 2 microns then they block some of the incoming energy from the Sun and the Earth cools off a little. That seems to have been the effect of the Pinatubo eruption where about a 1/2 degree of cooling was noticed around the world. Of course that doesn’t just mean that things are cooler, but there are all kinds of effects on the wind circulation and where storms occur.

An even more controversial connection involves whether or not volcanic activity on the East Pacific Rise (a mid-ocean spreading center) can cause warmer water at the surface of the East Pacific, and in that way generate an El Nino. Dr. Dan Walker here at the University of Hawai’i has noticed a strong correlation between seismic activity on the East Pacific Rise (which he presumes indicates an eruption) and El Nino cycles over the past ~25 years.

You might try this, but do it outside...

Band

Every Tuesday 8:00 Finis,Emma.M,Eli,Hunter,Peara,Jhaz  , Kiana and Aria have band practise. How it works is all of us get together in the art space and we share what we have learnt over the past week then we all agree on a song were going to practise the thing I find hard about band is keeping in time with other people. How ever the thing I going easy for band is learning the songs other people can play. (Guitar Hunter,Eli and Aria) (keyboards myself,Finis and Emma m) (drums Eli and Aria) (singers Peara,Jhaz and Kiana. Here is a photo of where we practise.

Feedback I like how you talked about the members of the band. Mike

Seed2table

Today our seed2tanle thing ended so this Friday. What we had to do is get our photos and fill in the rest of our slides here are the photos. What we had to do is we got into groups of four and decide what seed your going to grow. We decided to grow beans. The catch is you had to change one thing here are a few ideas ( you could change the amount of water or a change the liquid you water them

I think our group did very well because our beans take ages to grow but still in good shape

Feed back I think you did well looking after your plants and stuff
Feed foward make sure you do it on time

Maths

Today we got our math tests back I did the stage seven test because I passed my stage six test and stage five test. I got 32% on the stage seven test last time but this time I got 54%. The trick is you need to practise every day no matter how much you practise a day. Here is a photo of my tests

Total 90%

84%

Total 54%

Feedback I like how you talked about the tests put all of the photos of the tests on this post.
